Update from BAND: Wed October 22, 2025 9:03am

Hey all! Few things as we're approaching the end the season:

Today the beginning of our Butter Braid sale through November 5th! This is a student account fundraiser and forms can be found in the band room OR you can use the online site which is a bit easier. You can register as a seller here:

https://store.myfundraisingplace.com/RegisterSeller/13c71e38-9b9b-48a0-9e22-c88928178b3e

We have an exciting new fundraiser starting, and this one will be an individual fundraiser, which means students can earn money for their band accounts! We are hosting a private event at Lizzie's Axe Throwing, and we are asking that students/families sell tickets to the event. The event is Wednesday, November 5th at the Northglenn Lizzie's Axe Throwing location (104th & Huron). There will be 2 sessions that ticket buyers can choose from: 5-7 pm and 7-9 pm. Tickets are $25 each, and $14 from each ticket will go into the student's band account.Tickets are limited–only 60 available per session–so make sure to get the word out to friends and family to buy their tickets early!

Please note that Lizzie's will have their full menu available, but the food & drink revenue is not shared with HHSBPA.

Click here to buy tickets to the Lizzie's Axe Throwing fundraiser, or to share the link with others! Please contact hhsbpafundraiser@gmail.com with any questions.

πŸ₯ Winter Percussion is Coming!

Want to keep your chops up after marching band? Winter Percussion is your chance! Everyone who wants to join will have a spot β€” placements will be based on your attendance, participation at clinics, and your audition.

Before you jump in:
-Talk with your parents now so they know what to expect!
-Rehearsals move fast β€” if you struggled with practice or time management this fall, indoor will be a bigger challenge.
-All rehearsals and competitions are mandatory, and we’ll expect everyone to stay committed and on top of schoolwork.
-If you’re not sure what the commitment looks like or want to talk through expectations, reach out to me on the Band app.

We will be rehearsing on Tuesdays and Thursdays with a handful of Saturdays. I’m working on finalizing the schedule and the staff right now, but audition materials will be released soon as we will only have one week of clinics and auditions on a Saturday to wrap it up!

Let’s make this our strongest winter season yet!

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSesKLtPvb-jjsZjoiJhPzRVLeXP9IgMWqR6gbITYvzU_UgcOQ/viewform

Winter Guard is also coming soon! Rehearsals will be on Mondays and Wednesdays and we're hoping to have a big team, so please consider joining and talk to a color guard captain or Margo for more information!

Wind players are more than welcome to join these groups, no prior experience with guard or percussion is necessary, just a great attitude! Tell your friends (especially orchestra and choir friends who are musically inclined) who are interested in joining the band program!

Thanks all and I'm looking forward to a great end of our season, let's continue the focus and finish strong!

Update from BAND: Thu October 16, 2025 5:36pm

Hey all! Please make sure to check out all of the info below!

Great job over the weekend and on Monday, we will soon know exactly where we stand in 5A going into the State competitions, but I'm assuming it'll be 8th or 9th seed based off of the scores from the season.

We have to keep the momentum up and that starts back up on Saturday from 8 am-12 pm. I hope you've enjoyed the last few days off and are refreshed and ready to get back to work!

Cleaning and excellence continue to be the priority with some changes to the show mostly happening this Saturday and then we will continue to clean through the week. Please arrive to rehearsal around 7:30-7:45 so we can get everything set up quickly!

If you and your student are staying in the Springs on Friday night, please fill out this google form: https://forms.gle/eRSuu1cneQCsbpcv8

***Please have a plan to drop off your student on that Friday to the school so their cars are not parked at HHS overnight as we cannot guarantee the safety of those vehicles left while we're down in the Springs.

CSU Honor Band recordings are due tomorrow!
For those interested, it's a great opportunity and is a great prep for auditions and All State that will be due in November. Here's that info again: https://music.colostate.edu/bands/honor-band/

Here is the video from Monday's Regional performance!
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1coYq-YeOdhXc_noXtwiXKK1rqUrLPqX3/view?usp=share_link

Take a look and continue to find goals you want to focus on as we get into our LAST WEEK of the season!

Permission slips will go out on Monday to the students and teachers will be notified of their Friday absence, so please keep an eye out for those and communicate to your teachers asap if there are any test, summative assignments that day!

See you all on Saturday!

Hey Hawks! Fantastic work yesterday, I am very proud of our progress and what you all put out on the field. But as we know, there's more work to be done!! Below is a folder that has the video of our performance, as well as judges tapes. I don't expect you all to listen to all of the tapes, but the one's most relevant to us:

Band- Visual Individual or music individual, Music Ensemble or Effect 1
Guard- Visual individual and CG tape
Percussion- Music Effect 1, Percussion tape, and if time Ensemble

There's a lot of great things happening, but still inconsistencies across the board I think we can solve with focus on musicality, subdivision/timing, and great sounds ALL of the time.

Looking forward to tomorrow and a great rehearsal and regional performance! See you all at 11:30-45 am (so we can start ON TIME at 12 pm on the turf)

ATTENTION BAND FAMILIES

Unfortunately Big Cat Finals has been cancelled due to wind. The band is on our way back and should arrive back at HHS at 9:00. Please allow students some extras time to help unload if needed, and put up their uniforms correctly on the racks.

SHOUT OUT TO ALL STUDENTS, PIT CREW, CHAPERONES AND OTHER STAFF FOR AN AMAZING performance today in Prelims. The band scored a 73.9 and qualified for finals. Thank you all for the amazing help getting back loaded on the buses after the delay and cancellation. It takes a village to run this amazing program, and that village showed up today!! THANK YOU!! 😊
