Hey all!
Few quick updates:
I'm very excited for the showcase tomorrow! Remember rehearsal is from 10 am-2 pm and then we'll be starting the tailgate at 2 pm with food and more! We should perform the show right at 3:30 pm to be done before 4 pm.
Parade schedule: While the schedule for the parade next week will stay the same as I sent out earlier this week, we switched with Arvada HS Band for the number #30 spot so we can make it up to Fort Collins faster! Huge thanks to Arvada for helping us in a bind!
Students, Fill out this form for lunch selection for next Saturday: (this is also on schoology)

September 10th Football Game:
Our next game comes up quick! It's next Thursday and is also our Middle School night! If you have an 8th grade musician at home that's interested in marching band, I hope you bring them as well to join us for the pre show and in the stands for next week's game against Northglenn! 8th graders will meet at the gate at 6:15 pm and will get into the game for free.
Showcase reminder:
This year's Showcase event will be held on Saturday September 12th at Horizon High School. It will begin at 2pm with our tailgate. This year you may purchase a Chick-Fi-La sandwich, chips, cookie and drink for $8. If your student would like a meal, please be sure to purchase one for them. This is a fun time to hang out with other band parents, play yard games and socialize before we head into the stadium to watch the show. This event is held one week before the student's first marching competition. It is great for them to perform in front of an audience! We do charge $5 to get into the show (kids 12 and under are free). Please use the Zeffy link to purchase tickets. All meal tickets must be purchased in advance by Wednesday September 9th by 8pm. We will only order the number of sandwiches purchased and will not have extra.

Hello Band Families!
We need your help with two important volunteer opportunities!
This Friday, the band is responsible for running both concession stands at the football game at North Stadium. We currently have only four volunteers, but ideally need six people on each side.
The job is easy, the school provides all the food and supplies, and the band is paid for operating the stands. We would like volunteers to arrive around 5:00 p.m., but please still sign up if you need to arrive later. We can handle setup, but we especially need help during the game!

We could also use a few more parents to join our pit crew and help support the Marching Hawks at performances throughout the season.

Thank you for supporting the Horizon Band and helping make these opportunities possible for our students!

Show run through and reminders: (Please read all!)
Here are the show run through videos from Saturday! Take a look at the overhead drone view as a reference for drill spots, side to side spacing, and point accuracy. Look at the video from the box (director tower) perspective to look at the finer details of the music, feet timing, body shape in visuals, and marching technique overall.
Be proud of all of our progress last week, and let's stay focused and maintain a driving energy to improve, clean, and be ready for our first football game on Friday!

-We need to make sure to hit some pep band music as well so we're all ready for the game on Friday.
Football game on Friday! Call time is 5:00 pm
-Pictures may start earlier, so once students are in uniform, they'll head to the auditorium area and get their headshot for buttons! See the weekly band update email for more info. I'll update everyone on picture times this week.
-The game starts at 7:00 pm HOWEVER, the band will be doing our pre-show around 6:45 pm, so be early to your seats if you'd like to see that, parents!
We can't wait to perform in front of our home audience and show off how far we've come! We have about a week left to purchase the show apparel from the last post, and then this season is off to the races! Thank you so much for the support so far!
Don't forget to share out our fundraiser for rapid fundraising. We have a week left and are just above $36,000 dollars!! https://rapidfundraising.com/c/26xkx3
Let's get through a great week and then enjoy the long weekend! Remember NO REHEARSAL next Saturday!!

A reminder that Saturday practices, Monday evening rehearsals, and performances are all required, summative-graded events. We have had several recent absences without communication, and missing students affect everyone who relies on them on the field.
We understand that illnesses, emergencies, sports, and unavoidable conflicts happen. However, work and other avoidable events are not considered excused absences. If a student must miss, a parent must email the directors with the reason for the absence, and the student must complete a makeup assignment to recover the points.
Please continue checking the full calendar when making plans:
https://horizonhawks.band/calendar/
Thank you to the families who have communicated with us in advance! It helps us prepare and keeps the entire band moving forward. Every student has an important role in our success, let’s have a great season!

New fundraising opportunity!
I know this is short notice, but we have an opportunity for you to earn some extra money for your student's account! Fun Services is putting on a company picnic for the Pipefitters Union next Saturday, August 29th, from 10:30-2:30pm and they need our help. There are 20 slots available (first come first serve). All those that sign up will be paid minimum wage, and that money will be put into your student's account. You need to be 14 years old to work. If you sign up, and are unable to work your shift, please find someone else to work your shift.
We know the students have rehearsal Saturday morning, but we encourage parents/siblings/friends to work on their behalf! Please put which student you are signing up for in the comments of the sign up, as well as your t-shirt size(s).
