Hey All –
As we all know, the HHS Marching Hawks had an early morning today. And some parents were along for the ride (metaphorically and literally).
But it was worth it! A beautiful morning and the band sounded amazing.

Go Hawks!
Director Update September 3rd
Hello Band Families!
I hope you had a fantastic long weekend and got plenty of rest and relaxation! We’re diving into an action-packed week ahead, with rehearsals, our first performance, a game, and a parade lined up! This is going to be our busiest week yet, but things will settle down a bit before homecoming and our first competition the week after. Check out the daily schedule and a few important reminders below to stay on top of everything!
Rehearsal tonight 9/3
5:30-9:00 pm- We are going to learn our entire third movement and review a lot of the great work we did last week! We will be starting on the parking lot and then moving to the turf field at 6:00 pm.
WINDS ONLY- CMEA Rehearsal 9/4
3:30-5:30 pm- We have two new pieces to learn and we will continue to dig into our rep! We have about 37 minutes of total music so these rehearsals are important to get a head start during marching season!
Our CMEA performance is scheduled for February 1st at 11:00 am. I’m working out the details of this trip, but we will probably need to stay down in the Springs that Friday night to prepare. I will update you all when I know more!

9News Telecast:
I understand the call time is early and the timing is less than ideal with the game the night before. However, this year’s exposure for our program is a fantastic opportunity to showcase our incredible students. This is a unique chance, as they select different groups each year, so we want to make the most of it and maximize the potential of this opportunity.
5:00-5:15 am call time (sorry!), no earlier please as the building will be unarmed right at 5 am and we will not be let in before that.
5:30 am- Stage in the auditorium for the telecast, we will go through 4 segments, interviews, and other things that will play alongside our story on 9News that morning!
The students will be excused 1st and 2nd hour, however if we get done earlier they will return to class after we’re done.
Arvada Harvest Festival Parade 9/7:
7:30 am- Call Time
8:00 am- Depart for Stenger Soccer parking lot at Oak St, from Kipling Parkway and W 56th Pl. (Staging Area)

9:00 am- parade starts!
10:30- 11:00 am- Horizon finishes the parade, gets a snack, and heads back to HHS
11:30 am-12:00 pm- Arrive back at HHS and dismiss!

The students will need black socks, their marching shoes, their show shirt, and black shorts or leggings to wear under their uniforms. Students with long hair need to pull it all back, so please ensure that your student has plenty of hair ties and bobby pins for the season. Also, for competitions, please remove finger nail polish if they have finger-less gloves, remove any ear or face piercings, the students are all to look uniform and these small details count.
We need more chaperones and pit crew volunteers. If you would like to help out, please use the links below to sign up:
Thank you to all who donated snacks, our closet is full and we no longer need snacks or water at this time, thank you!
If you wanted to purchase a senior poster, please remember to pay by tomorrow. It is $75, payment is made to the band parent association, check, cash, zelle, venmo or paypal.
Our next restaurant night is Tuesday September 10th at Raising Cane’s on 136th & I-25 from 5-9pm.
Weekly Update August 25th
Good evening band families,
Tomorrow the students will have rehearsal from 5:30-9pm. The photographer who is creating the senior banners will be there to take senior photos. The banners are $75, you will be billed by the photographer. If you would like to have a banner of your senior made, and you have not emailed us yet, please send us a quick email with your student’s name so we have an accurate list for the photographer tomorrow evening.
The first football game is Thursday September 5th and the Arvada Harvest parade is Saturday September 7th. We will be sending out Sign Up Genius invites to those who expressed interest in the Hawk Haulers and Chaperones. If you did not place your name on the interest list at the Show N’ Tell, please email me and I will add you to the list. Those individuals will receive the Sign Up’s first, if we need additional help, we will send it out to the rest of the parents.
We still need water and snacks for football games, competitions, and parades. If you are able to help fill our snack/water closet, please bring individually wrapped, shelf stable, snacks or bottled water to the evening rehearsal (your student can take them in when they get there and put them in Mr. Dailey’s office).
Lastly, thank you all who have shared our Snap Raise fundraiser. We have currently raised $13,627! This is a great start! Our goal is $20,000, so if you can, please continue to share this on social media and with family and friends, because it takes a village to run a successful marching program!
September HHSBPA Meeting
The September meeting will be held on Tuesday the 10th at 6pm to accommodate the band rehearsal the previous Tuesday.
Weekly Update August 18th
This week the marching band will have rehearsal after school on Monday from 5:30-9pm. These evening rehearsals are a critical part of bringing their show together, so please plan accordingly so your student is able to attend.
Wednesday, the Wind Ensemble will have rehearsal after school from 3:30-5:30pm. These rehearsals will be every other Wednesday for the first quarter. This is ONLY for students in Wind Ensemble.
Thank you so much for all who helped on Saturday’s Mile of Money and for all the student participation. We raised over $1800! This is a great kick off for our month long campaign to raise money for our general fund.
The Snap Raise portion kicked off yesterday as well. This is our BIGGEST fundraiser for the general fund, and we need your help to make it successful. Last week your student was asked to provide email addresses so Snap Raise could send out our fundraising campaign information. Please continue to share this via email, text, and on your social media sites. Last year we raised over $20,000(!) which is this year’s goal as well. We use this money to pay for busing, equipment, props, music, staff, and so much more (see fundraising for more details). We would love to see this be our most successful year yet. LINK BELOW for the main Snap Raise Campaign. Your students will have sent out the individual portions of their campaigns via text message to their contacts.
https://raise.snap.app/donate/horizon-high-school-band-2024
If you are a senior parent and would like to have a giant poster of your student made, we need to know by next week. We would love to give you the opportunity to have a poster made with your senior’s photo (them in their uniform) to hang up at football games. Currently, the football team and cheer squads do this and we thought we should join in the fun. A photographer would come to the school to take the photos, and the posters would be done within a couple weeks. The cost would be $75 per student. We need at least 15 parents interested in doing this, or we will not be able to have them made. I currently have 9 senior parents interested. Please fill out the interest form below if you are interested (if you already filled it out, you do not need to do it again).
Weekly Update August 4th
Band camp is over and the marching season has officially started! The students did such a great job last week, it was great to see their first movement on the field at the Show N’ Tell last week.
This week, the students have rehearsal on Tuesday from 4-7pm. Please remind them to wear a white shirt. 9 News will be there and doing a spotlight piece, it will look really nice to have all the students in white shirts.
We have our first restaurant night this Wednesday at Freddy’s from 4-8pm, see the post below. Make sure to mention that you are with Horizon Band and we will receive 15% of sales. Pass it along to friends, family, co workers, and share it on your social media so we can get a large turn out.
On Saturday August 17th we will have our annual Mile of Money fundraiser at the King Soopers on 136th and Colorado. The students will perform while parents collect donations. We will need a couple volunteers to help collect donations, you can sign up here if you would like to help:
Along with the performance and money collection at King Soopers, we will run an online Mile of Money through Snap Raise. Your students will be asked to provide email addresses of friends/family and Snap Raise will send out an invite to support the band. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, we usually collect around $20,000 each year for our general fund, which is amazing! Please help support your student in providing email addresses. This will be kicked off once school begins. Mr. Dailey will go over this in band class, we just wanted to give a heads up that it is coming.
We are also asking for snack donations for performances. If you are able to donate individually wrapped snacks or water, please drop it off at Mr. Dailey’s office on Tuesday after rehearsal.
If you have any questions, please let us know.
Restaurant Night August 7th
Hey Band Families!
Head out to Freddy’s on Wednesday August 7th anytime between 4-8pm, mention you are with the band, and we will receive 15% of sales.
Tell your family and friends!

Quick Update July 30th
Good evening band families!
Just a quick reminder about a couple of things.
King Soopers rewards screen shot is due by Thursday, just send it to this email and we will apply it to your student’s account.
Show N’ Tell is Friday at 6pm. We will have a quick band parent meeting, the students will show us what they have been working on, and we will serve a hot dog dinner. If you want to purchase a dinner, please sign up here:
If you would like to pay via Venmo, you can do that in advance, just make a note that it is for the Hot Dog dinner.
Lastly, we need to fill our snack closet with water and snacks. We provide water and snacks to the students at performances and need to replenish our supply. We are looking for bottles of water and individually wrapped snacks like fruit snacks, granola bars, individual size popcorn, etc. If you would like to donate, you may bring them Friday or to any of the after school rehearsals.
