Director Update

Director Update August 28th

Hello Marching Hawks families,

We have a few important updates as we continue preparing for a great season!

First, our  Electrify show apparel fundraiser is now open! Families and supporters can purchase a T-shirt, long-sleeve shirt, or hoodie featuring this year’s show design. We would love to see our families wearing these at competitions and performances while showing their support for the Marching Hawks!

Order here:

I also need to share an important reminder about attendance. Our Saturday practices, Monday 3:30-5:00 music rehearsals, and performances are all required, summative-graded events. We have recently had a number of students miss rehearsals without communicating with the directors or their section leaders, and those absences are beginning to affect the entire group.

Marching band is incredibly dependent on every person being present. When someone is missing from the field, other students lose the people and reference points they rely on, and it makes the rehearsal process more difficult for both students and staff.

We completely understand that emergencies, illnesses, family situations, sports, and other unavoidable conflicts happen. However, work and other avoidable conflicts are not considered excused absences from required rehearsals or performances. If a student must miss, a parent needs to email the directors with the reason for the absence. Students must also complete a makeup assignment to recover the missed summative points.

Please continue to reference our calendar when scheduling appointments, work, and other activities:

Thank you to the many families who have already communicated with us about unavoidable conflicts! That advance notice makes a huge difference and allows our staff and students to prepare for rehearsing without that student.

We have a great group with an exciting season ahead of us, and every student plays an important role in our success. Thank you for helping us keep everyone present, prepared, and moving forward together!

Go Hawks!
