Weekly Update Aug 2nd

Good evening band families!

Band Camp

Band camp continues this week, but only in the afternoon. The students will meet Monday-Thursday from 4pm-7:30pm and Friday from 4pm-6pm.

Show N’ Tell

At 6pm on Friday August 7th, we will have our annual Show N’ Tell. The students will be giving us a sneak peak into what they have been working on this summer, including performing the first part of the show. We will also have a short band parent meeting. We encourage everyone to come out and join us at Show N’ Tell, it is always fun to see what the students have been working on. After the students are finished, we will be offering our hot dog dinner to families. For $5 you can get a hot dog, bag of chips, cookie and a bottle of water. The students do not have to purchase their meal, but if you would like to eat with them, please purchase your meal here before Tuesday August 4th so we know how many meals we need to provide.

Prop Building

Happy Sunday everyone,

First, thank you to everyone who came out and helped during Band Camp last week! Our crew made incredible progress, and we accomplished so much in a short amount of time. We truly couldn’t do this without all of your support.

As the band moves to afternoon rehearsals this week, our prop-building schedule will shift to 4:30–7:30 p.m. each evening.

Unfortunately, due to plumbing issues at Horizon, we are unable to access the Fieldhouse at the beginning of the week. Because of this, we will continue our builds at a house:

2611 E. 136th Place
Thornton, CO 80602

We plan to work at this address on:

  • Monday, August 3: 4:30–7:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, August 4: 4:30–7:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, August 5: 4:30–7:30 p.m.

We are hopeful that we’ll be back in the Fieldhouse for our Thursday and Friday builds, and I’ll send out an update as soon as that is confirmed. Thursday’s build is the same 4:30-7:30 p.m. time frame, location TBD. Friday, the band’s Show and Tell starts at 6 p.m., so we’ll begin at 4:30 p.m. but ends a little before 6 p.m. to push a sample of our props for students and families to see.

We made great progress during Band Camp, but we’ve reached the point in the build where we really need all hands on deck. Right now, we’re working on building 13 Tesla coils and constructing the back wall for our stage. We have a lot to accomplish before the Show & Tell on Friday, August 7, so any help is greatly appreciated.

Even if you can’t commit to an entire evening, we’d love to have you stop by for an hour or two. Every bit of time helps, and there are tasks for all skill levels.

Thank you again for everything you’ve done to support our students and this program. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about this week’s schedule.

See you soon!

Weekly Update May 30th

Good evening band families!

This is the start of our weekly updates for this marching band season. We email out all the important upcoming information that you need to know about. During the marching season you will receive one (sometimes two) emails per week. We ask that you read the emails in their entirety, as we try to only put information that you need in them. If you ever have any questions, please email us and we will get back to you as soon as we can. During the marching band season we try to respond within 24-48 hours. After the season is over, it may take me a little longer.

The next event that we have is our annual Car Wash Fundraiser. This will be held on Saturday June 13th from 10am-2pm at North Metro Church located at 12505 Colorado Blvd. Your student will be asked to sign up for a 2 hour shift, either 10-12 OR 12-2. They absolutely may stay for the entire event. Mr. Dailey had handed out the calendar fundraising form for your student to start getting people to fill out. This is an easy fundraiser for your student to earn money for their band account. If your student is given any cash for their Calendar they may bring the money to the Car Wash and we will get it put into their account. We need parent volunteers to help with this fundraiser. We need people to donate equipment like hoses, car wash soap, sponges, etc. AND we need parents to help manage the car wash. If you are able to help in any way, please sign up on this Sign Up Genius:

Car Wash Fundraiser Sign Up

The season calendars up to October are updated and emailed! We send them out with the weekly updates (just in case you like it on paper 😀).

Stay tuned for more ways to help the band, and please send me any questions you may have. The band website is a fantastic source of information and is updated weekly.

We look forward to meeting all the new band families and are so excited to see what our Marching Hawks do this year. It takes a village to support a successful band program and we thank each and every one of you who help out!

Have a great week!

Weekly Update April 26th

Good evening band families,

We are coming to the end of the school year! We have a couple of important dates and reminders that we need to go over.

First is the upcoming concerts. The last band concert is Thursday April 30th at 6:30pm. Senior parents, if you would like to display a senior board, please bring it a few minutes early. We will also be having our silent auction at the concert, plan on viewing and bidding on your favorite baskets!

The last jazz concert of the year is May 7th at 6:30, again, if you have a senior and want to display their senior board, please bring it a few minutes early.

The last important date is May 18th. This will be the kick off to the 2026/27 marching band season! The students will meet from 5-7pm to do a read through of the show. At 7pm, we will have our band parent meeting. If your student is going to be in marching band, please plan on attending this meeting.

It is time for you to email me your quarterly King Soopers Community Rewards. Please take a screenshot of your rewards and send it to me by May 10 so we can put that towards your student’s account.

If you have any outstanding balances from marching band, winter percussion, or winter color guard, please pay those ASAP. This will affect our budget for next year, so please get any money owed paid.

If you have a senior, we need to know what to do with any extra funds that may be left in their student account. We have several options:

*If you have other students in the band, the funds can be rolled into a siblings account

*You can choose to gift any left over funds to another specified student

*You can choose to have left over funds go into our scholarship fund

OR

If you do not specify what you want done, the money will go into the band’s general fund. Please let me know by June 1st what you would like done.

Also, please let us know if you would like to stay on the email list. On June 1st, we will delete all senior parents emails. If you would like to remain on the list OR you have other students in the band, please let us know and we will keep you on our list.

We will be making the marching band calendar shortly, we will have it ready to attach to emails by our May 18th meeting. However, one date we would like you to be aware of now, so you can put it on your calendar is our annual car wash date. It will be on Saturday June 13 from 10-2. You will receive more details soon, but just wanted to let you know when it will be.

Please let us know if you have any questions!

Quick Update April 3rd

Good evening band families!

We just wanted to send out a couple quick reminders as we near the end of the year:

We will be putting together our silent auction gift baskets soon. Your student’s section decided on a theme and we are asking for you to donate an item for the gift basket and have that to the school no later than 4/17.

If you have a senior, you may make a tri-fold board with photos on it to display at our last concert band concert (4/30) and the last jazz concert (5/7).

The marching band read-thru and parent meeting will be on 5/18. The music read-thru is from 57pm followed by a band parent meeting. Please plan on attending this meeting if you have a student that will be in the marching band next season.

We will be communicating more information towards the end of April, we just wanted to remind everyone about the silent auction items and the senior boards at this time.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks!
