Rapid Fundraiser

Freddy’s Fundraiser

Also, thank you all who came out to Freddy’s for our restaurant night, we made $341.09, which is an awesome amount for a restaurant night!

Our next restaurant night will be on September 22 at Raising Canes, we will send out the flyer next week.

Student Account Fundraising Opportunity

We have an opportunity for you to earn some extra money for your student’s account. Fun Services is putting on a company picnic for the Pipefitter Union next Saturday, August 29th from 10:30am-2:30pm and they need our help. There are 20 slots available (first come first serve). All those that sign up will be paid minimum wage, and that money will be put into your student’s account. You need to be 14 years old to work. If you sign up, and are unable to work your shift, please find someone else to work your shift.

We know that students have rehearsal on Saturday morning, but we encourage parents/siblings/friends to work on their behalf. Please put which student you are signing up for in the comments of the sign up, as well as your t-shirt size. If you want to work, please sign up here:

Update to Weekly Update? August 18th

There were a couple of things we forgot to mention in the message we sent out on Sunday.

Tomorrow we are having a restaurant fundraising night at Freddy’s located at 14255 Lincoln St. Thornton from 4-8pm. You can order on-line using the code ‘GIVEBACK’ or in person and mention Horizon band 20% of the night’s earnings will go towards the band. This is a fun and easy way for us to earn some money for the band. Tell your family and friends to eat at Freddy’s tomorrow!

Friday night is our parent’s night out. Come join us at Prost Brewing on 104th & I-25 at 6pm. You can meet and mingle with other band families and meet new people. If you are new to the band program, this is a great way for you to chat with more seasoned parents about how the marching band season works and how parents can get involved. We would love to see a large turnout so we can get to know one another better, it takes a village to support a band program, so let’s get the village together for a little fun!

If you have ordered shopping bags or swag bags from the Zeffy merch shop and have not picked them up yet, Ashly will be at the school at the end of next Monday evenings rehearsal. You can stop by and pick up what you purchased.

If you are purchasing buttons, please make sure you (or any family members who are ordering) put the name of the student in the order so we know how many buttons of that student we should make.

The last day to order buttons, hats, or yard signs is going to be Thursday September 4th. This will allow time for those items to be ordered and made.

Have a great week!

Good afternoon band families!

The students did such a wonderful job at Mile of Money yesterday. We ended up making over $3,000 which is a new record!

Here is what is happening this week:

The students will kick off the Play it Forward Fundraiser. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and our goal for this year is $60,000! We need to purchase some new front ensemble equipment and work towards buying new drumline equipment and we would like to use this fundraiser to help with that. The students will be calling family and friends during Monday’s rehearsal to ask for donations. If you have people that you think would donate, please give their contact information to your student.

Also on Monday

We will be taking pictures for senior banners at 5pm. If you would like your student to have a senior banner, please purchase it by midnight tonight using the link below. The cost is $70 per banner. We have a professional photographer coming on Monday.

Weekly Update Aug 2nd

Good evening band families!

Band Camp

Band camp continues this week, but only in the afternoon. The students will meet Monday-Thursday from 4pm-7:30pm and Friday from 4pm-6pm.

Show N’ Tell

At 6pm on Friday August 7th, we will have our annual Show N’ Tell. The students will be giving us a sneak peak into what they have been working on this summer, including performing the first part of the show. We will also have a short band parent meeting. We encourage everyone to come out and join us at Show N’ Tell, it is always fun to see what the students have been working on. After the students are finished, we will be offering our hot dog dinner to families. For $5 you can get a hot dog, bag of chips, cookie and a bottle of water. The students do not have to purchase their meal, but if you would like to eat with them, please purchase your meal here before Tuesday August 4th so we know how many meals we need to provide.

Prop Building

Happy Sunday everyone,

First, thank you to everyone who came out and helped during Band Camp last week! Our crew made incredible progress, and we accomplished so much in a short amount of time. We truly couldn’t do this without all of your support.

As the band moves to afternoon rehearsals this week, our prop-building schedule will shift to 4:30–7:30 p.m. each evening.

Unfortunately, due to plumbing issues at Horizon, we are unable to access the Fieldhouse at the beginning of the week. Because of this, we will continue our builds at a house:

2611 E. 136th Place
Thornton, CO 80602

We plan to work at this address on:

  • Monday, August 3: 4:30–7:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, August 4: 4:30–7:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, August 5: 4:30–7:30 p.m.

We are hopeful that we’ll be back in the Fieldhouse for our Thursday and Friday builds, and I’ll send out an update as soon as that is confirmed. Thursday’s build is the same 4:30-7:30 p.m. time frame, location TBD. Friday, the band’s Show and Tell starts at 6 p.m., so we’ll begin at 4:30 p.m. but ends a little before 6 p.m. to push a sample of our props for students and families to see.

We made great progress during Band Camp, but we’ve reached the point in the build where we really need all hands on deck. Right now, we’re working on building 13 Tesla coils and constructing the back wall for our stage. We have a lot to accomplish before the Show & Tell on Friday, August 7, so any help is greatly appreciated.

Even if you can’t commit to an entire evening, we’d love to have you stop by for an hour or two. Every bit of time helps, and there are tasks for all skill levels.

Thank you again for everything you’ve done to support our students and this program. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about this week’s schedule.

See you soon!
