In your email, we have attached several documents about the state competition so you can be prepared if you attend the competition. Please remember that it is at the Air Force Academy, so you will have to go through a safety checkpoint in order to go onto the base. They CAN search your vehicle and you need to have your driver’s license ready. There is often a line for this process, please plan accordingly so you do not miss the performance.

To follow along with scores, and other information about state, visit the Colorado Marching website: https://www.coloradomarching.org/

Monarch Patches

The Monarch Patches are in! Your student can pick them up from Mr. Dailey this week.

King Soopers Rewards

King Soopers community rewards are in for the quarter. If you are signed up for the King Soopers community rewards, please go to your profile and take a snapshot of this quarter’s earnings and email it to this email ([email protected]) by November 1st.

If you are new to marching band here is a quick rundown on how the state competitions work. This week the regional competitions are held around the state. The last regional in which 5A bands will perform occurs on Thursday, so by Friday morning, we will know the standings for the state competition. IF Horizon places in the top 6 for 5A bands, they will SKIP quarter finals which take place on the morning of Friday October 25th and go directly to semi finals which is held on the morning of Saturday October 26th. Finals are held in the evening of Saturday October 26th. Quarter finals, semi finals and finals are all held at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. If you would like to follow the scores this week, and see the placement for quarter finals, check the CBA marching website: https://www.coloradomarching.org/

We want to thank all the families who donated for the Hawk the Lawn, we were able to raise all the money needed for the signs. Our lovely Vice President, Danielle, is coordinating the Hawk the Lawn, and would like to organize a proper send off for our students, here is a message from her:

As we gear up for state, we would like to go ahead and put a small ask on your calendar. Last year on the morning of state (Saturday only-Oct. 26), parents/families surprised the kids by making a tunnel for them to walk through as they headed to the buses. We would like to do that again this year, as well! We aren’t sure of the time quite yet, but even it’s 4 a.m., our kiddos deserve it! Please stay tuned for a time in our state communication email. Go Hawks!

This week’s schedule:
Monday: 9-1pm rehearsal
1-4pm load trailer and break for dinner
4pm call time
8pm performance time
10pm ish arrive at HHS

Friday: 9-1pm rehearsal
5-10 ish football game

Thank you all for coming out to the In N Out Showcase fundraiser! It was a wonderful afternoon and the band’s performance was awesome!

I hope you all have a great week, if you have any questions, please feel free to email us.

Help us Hawk the Lawn!

As our season is well underway and state is right around the corner, we would like to continue a tradition that was started last year to celebrate our band kiddos! Last year on the day of state, the students were surprised with a “Hawk the Lawn” in their honor. Each band student had a lawn sign with their name on it (that they were able to keep) placed in front of the school beside a giant “Good Luck at State” sign. The kids really appreciated the recognition and we would like to do it again this season. Last year, the signs were paid for by an individual parent, but this year, we are hoping to purchase through donations from our band parents.  We are hoping that each family could donate $5.00 (or more if you would like!) to help purchase the signs. The total cost with everything is $616.00. We would need one week for order and turnaround of the signs, so we are hoping to have the money by 10/`14 (state is the 25th/26th). There are a few options for payment: cash to Mr. Daily, Venmo ($6.00), or you can pay in person at Monday night’s practice from 8:20-8:50. Jessica, Danielle or Nikole will be inside the stadium. Thank you so much for supporting our AMAZING band students as they continue to make us proud every performance!

Weeks events:

  • Monday: Rehearsal 5:30-9pm
  • Tuesday: Winter percussion interest meeting 5:30-6:30pm
  • Wednesday: Wind Ensemble rehearsal 3:30-5:30pm & Chipolte Restaurant night 5-9pm 14452 Orchard Pkwy Unit 300, Westminster, CO (flyer below, please share on your social media and don’t forget to mention you are with the band!)
  • Thursday: Percussion 5:30-7:30pm & Guard 6-9pm
  • Friday: Football game 5-9:30pm (This is senior night and 8th grade night)
  • Saturday: Rehearsal 1-3:30pm & Showcase 4-7pm

Thank you so much for all your help and support so far this season!
