Director Update Sept. 17th

Hello Band Families!

Thank you all for your incredible support over the past few weeks at football games, the parade, and during rehearsals! The props look AMAZING, and our students have been working incredibly hard. They’ve now completed their show on the field! We’ll continue refining and perfecting the show to ensure it’s performance-ready for Saturday’s Monarch Marching Festival competition. Here are the important details for the upcoming weeks:

WINDS ONLY- CMEA Rehearsal 9/18

3:30-5:30 pm- We have sectional coaches coming in to really dig into the music and help the students, so this is an important rehearsal to be at!

Reminder: Our CMEA performance is scheduled for February 1st at 11:00 am. We will be staying at the Broadmoor Hotel on January 31st! I will have more information once we solidify the plan for the meals, rehearsal spaces, and what all will be included on the trip.

Students are welcome to stay for the rest of the game, but we will only play at the beginning.

Director Update September 3rd

Hello Band Families!

I hope you had a fantastic long weekend and got plenty of rest and relaxation! We’re diving into an action-packed week ahead, with rehearsals, our first performance, a game, and a parade lined up! This is going to be our busiest week yet, but things will settle down a bit before homecoming and our first competition the week after. Check out the daily schedule and a few important reminders below to stay on top of everything!

Rehearsal tonight 9/3

5:30-9:00 pm- We are going to learn our entire third movement and review a lot of the great work we did last week! We will be starting on the parking lot and then moving to the turf field at 6:00 pm.

WINDS ONLY- CMEA Rehearsal 9/4

3:30-5:30 pm- We have two new pieces to learn and we will continue to dig into our rep! We have about 37 minutes of total music so these rehearsals are important to get a head start during marching season!

Our CMEA performance is scheduled for February 1st at 11:00 am. I’m working out the details of this trip, but we will probably need to stay down in the Springs that Friday night to prepare. I will update you all when I know more!

Football Game 9/5:

5:00 pm- Call time at HHS

5:30 pm- Depart for North Stadium 12500 Delaware St, Westminster, CO 80234

5:45 pm- Arrive at North and unload, get ready for warm up and pre-show

6:45 pm- Step off for pre-show and Star Spangled Banner

7:00 pm- Kick off

7:50ish pm- Halftime Show

UPDATE- Because of the early morning News Cast, we will be leaving AFTER 3rd quarter. After Halftime, students will go back to the stands, play for one more quarter while we pack up and then we will head back to HHS.

9News Telecast:

I understand the call time is early and the timing is less than ideal with the game the night before. However, this year’s exposure for our program is a fantastic opportunity to showcase our incredible students. This is a unique chance, as they select different groups each year, so we want to make the most of it and maximize the potential of this opportunity.

5:00-5:15 am call time (sorry!), no earlier please as the building will be unarmed right at 5 am and we will not be let in before that.

5:30 am- Stage in the auditorium for the telecast, we will go through 4 segments, interviews, and other things that will play alongside our story on 9News that morning!

The students will be excused 1st and 2nd hour, however if we get done earlier they will return to class after we’re done.

Arvada Harvest Festival Parade 9/7:

7:30 am- Call Time

8:00 am- Depart for Stenger Soccer parking lot at Oak St, from Kipling Parkway and W 56th Pl. (Staging Area)

8:45 am- Arrive at the staging area and get into warm up. Horizon is number 51 in the parade order, and the 6th band in the parade!

9:00 am- parade starts!

10:30- 11:00 am- Horizon finishes the parade, gets a snack, and heads back to HHS

11:30 am-12:00 pm- Arrive back at HHS and dismiss!

More parade information about the route and spectator parking can be found here: https://arvadaharvestfestivalparade.com/parade/
