What We Do

The HHSBPA raises money for busing to and from events, food to feed the kids (often more than once), event and activities fees, instrument repairs, uniform needs, equipment repairs, and all the other things necessary to keep the bands running smoothly. If you have suggestions or ideas, feel free to contact us.

Here is a sample of some things we do during a typical school year:

  • Making props for the marching band field show.
  • Helping with the loading and unloading of the equipment trailers and setting up/taking down the equipment on the field for the marching show (pit crew).
  • Planning fundraisers to support band fees and upcoming trip fees.
  • Serve as chaperones for bus trips and tours.
  • Assisting with preparations for field and concert performances.
  • Planning meals for performances off site.
  • Instrument, trailer, uniform, and prop repairs.
  • Helping with travel arrangements.
  • Planning the band camp BBQ and other banquets/celebrations.
  • Helping as needed for all marching, concert, jazz, choir, and orchestra performances.
  • MOST IMPORTANTLY, SUPPORTING ALL OF THE KIDS! (We are often the parents that are there when they are looking for help, support, and encouragement.)

Like any youth organization, solid support from the parents is critical to the success of the program. We encourage all of our parents to get involved, use the Volunteering form to get the process started! If you own your own business or have an opportunity to sponsor us with your company, please visit our Corporate Sponsors page!

How We Communicate

The HHSBPA and/or Mr. Dailey send out a weekly e-mail to all parents highlighting some of the events that are coming up so it is IMPORTANT to check e-mail weekly. The HHSBPA also has a Facebook page (Horizon High School Band Parent Association) where reminders will be posted. The Facebook page can be used by parents or students to post photos, questions, comments, or other fun stuff.
